Why it comes up
The pressure this solves
Inventory windows close. A supplier with surplus, a closing sale, a competitor liquidating — those do not wait for a bank to underwrite you. Meanwhile the asset that could fund it is sitting in a vault doing nothing but appreciating.
Why borrowing fits here
- Funded in days once collateral is verified, which is usually faster than the buying window closes.
- No credit check — a thin file or a recent year of losses does not kill the deal.
- Interest-only monthly, so the payment does not compete with the inventory turn.
- No prepayment penalty: clear it the moment the stock sells.
How borrowers usually structure it
Most inventory borrowers take the shortest term they can and repay from the sale proceeds. Because there is no prepayment penalty, an early payoff costs you nothing but the interest actually accrued.
Collateral
What you can pledge
Gold Bars
Kilo, 10 oz and 1 oz bars from recognized refiners. Your specific bars are segregated and returned, not equivalent metal.
Explore →
Gold Coins
Sovereign issues are valued on gold content at spot. Collector premium is not lent against, which is worth knowing first.
Explore →
Numismatic & Graded Coins
Graded coins are assessed on certification first and metal second. Nothing is cracked out, cleaned or reholdered.
Explore →
Silver Bullion
Silver is the worst metal to liquidate in a hurry, which is exactly why borrowing against it beats selling it.
Explore →
Platinum & Palladium
Thinner markets that move harder than gold, so the advance may be set more conservatively at verification.
Explore →
Mixed Portfolios
One valuation, one term and one payment across several metals, with price risk spread wider than a single-metal pledge.

Timing
The clock on this
Inventory borrowing has a clock you can usually see, which is what makes it the cleanest use on this list. The stock is bought on a date, sells over a known period, and the facility should be sized to that period rather than to what you could raise. The discipline worth keeping is to work backwards from realistic sell-through rather than optimistic sell-through — the version where half the lot moves in the first month and the rest takes a season is the version that actually happens.
Said plainly
Cheaper things to try first
Supplier terms are the alternative to try first and they cost nothing. A supplier who will extend thirty or sixty days has effectively financed the purchase for free, and many will if asked directly. Trade credit, a deposit-and-balance structure, or simply buying a smaller lot are all cheaper than any borrowing. Come here when the opportunity is larger than your terms can absorb, or when the seller wants cash and the discount for paying it is real.
FAQ
Common questions
- How fast can this fund?
- Days once your collateral is inspected and verified — not weeks. We cannot promise a specific date before we have seen the metal.
- Can I repay as soon as the inventory sells?
- Yes. There is no prepayment penalty and no minimum interest period.
- Do you need to see my books?
- No. The metal is the underwriting.
